Acupuncture
Acupuncture involves the insertion of very fine stainless steel needles into the skin.
Our specialist physiotherapists are trained in Western Medical Acupuncture – this is slightly different to Dry Needling. Acupuncture places the needles into specific points and typically the needles are left in for approximately 15-20 minutes. Dry needling, the needles are not placed in specific points and typically aren’t left in as long. In acupuncture the therapist may ‘stimulate’ the needles by twisting them to increase the effect if you require further sensation or they can leave the needles if you would prefer.
Acupuncture may be used to treat a wide range of common health problems and to reduce pain, although you may see people use it for other reasons such as relaxation, infertility. At Moko Physiotherapy, we commonly use it to help individuals with muscular pain / tightness, relaxation and acute / persistent pain.
All acupuncture appointments are currently with our clinical lead physiotherapist, Naomi. Appointments are 30 minutes to include time to understand your goals of acupuncture, see how we can help, carry out health screening / consent forms as well as the needles being inserted for 15-20 minutes. If you have further questions, please call us on 01332 501098 to discuss your specific needs.
