Back Pain Treatment Derby
Back pain is the most common cause of disability from a musculoskeletal condition in the UK.
Back pain is the most common cause of disability from a musculoskeletal condition in the UK. 95% of the population will experience an episode of back pain at some point in their lives. It is the most common complaint that we treat at Moko Physiotherapy in Derby. Therefore, we have made sure we are well equipped to treat it. We are experts in helping people with back pain. Katie, the lead therapist, specialises in the spine. She presented her research at the British Spine Conference in 2021.
Back pain is often caused by a number of reasons. We understand that having back pain can be quite worrying for some people. We therefore carry out a comprehensive assessment to ensure there is nothing concerning about your symptoms. We take time to listen to your unique story about when the pain started, how it is affecting you and what goals you would like to achieve.
Treatment options are tailored to the individual, but may include;
-
Reassurance and Education
Knowledge is power. If you can understand what your body is telling you, then you are going to have a much greater chance of success. We can also explain your symptoms, what is normal, and how long things are likely to take to improve. You may have had a scan but not fully understood the report. We can help explain it in plain and simple language.
-
Bespoke Exercise and Rehabilitation
The research tells us that the best treatment for back pain is surrounded by movement. Together, we create a tailor-made rehab plan to help you get moving. Don’t worry if you are not a gym-goer or exercise fanatic. Sometimes, we ask you just to do one simple thing. We know it is pointless giving you a long list of exercises, if you’re a busy person.
-
Manual Therapy
In some cases, hands on treatment can help reduce pain, instil confidence to move and reduce threat. It does not, however, re-align anything or change the structure of the tissue. Results from manual therapy are often short-lived, and since we’re interested in long term results, manual therapy is always used in conjunction with other treatments.
Saw Katie recently after experiencing ankle pain and was impressed. She’s very professional and thorough, and is clearly an expert.

Katie is brilliant. I went to her with aches and pains in my hip after a car accident. I felt completely at ease and supported by her, and trusted her professional opinion. Definitely recommend.
